The Northampton Chamber’s Ink Link™ Program

What happens when you combine the powers and positive aspects of a great local business organization and an innovative smart business? The result is a program created for the Chamber intended to raise significant funds so that it may serve our community to the fullest extent. That’s right folks, Ink Solutions LLC of Amherst and Northampton have teamed up with our Northampton Chamber of Commerce to make a big environmental impact and to raise money for the Chamber!

The Chamber’s new Ink Link program incorporates some of the most positive aspects that appeal to local consumers, businesses as well as the Chamber itself. The program will educate the public about the many benefits of using remanufactured ink and toner cartridges while boosting our local economy. By integrating such a program within the Chambers agenda, it will add momentum to the already robust Green movement seen across much of the World today. “Over 700 million ink and toner cartridges are irresponsibly disposed of in the world.” says co-owner of Ink Solutions Serges LaRiviere. “By creating such a smart and beneficial program between the chamber and Ink Solutions we can more effectively teach people about sustainable office and printing methods as well as raise money for a great organization like the Northampton Chamber of Commerce.”

The main benefits that will be seen are as follows: The Chamber will receive $1 for each ink jet cartridge and $5 for each toner cartridge purchased from Ink Solutions when presented with a card. This will go directly to the programs that need financing most within the Chambers many programs. Secondly, as a business or household consumer, you pay 30-60% less for ink and toner supplies that you would need to buy other wise. Thirdly, thousands of ink and toner cartridges will be re-used and recycled properly in order to reduce the negative impact imposed on our Earth. Lastly, this program supports the local economy. It is a fact that about 70% of money spent locally, stays locally. Also by supporting the Chamber, an organization that helps build the local economy, we will ensure well funded and effective programs.

You can help! Use your Ink Link card for your household printing, for the company you work for or own and help out the cause! Call 413 584 1900 to request your free cards.

Making the work place more green!

officespace4.jpg

Making your place of work more environmentally-friendly can be a challenge. Here are some small steps that everyone can take, even when faced with a stubborn boss or backwards company policies. Be an eco-worker, as the Times calls it, and offer tips on how employees can begin making offices greener.

Start by doing simple things such as printing out less of those unnecessary documents from your computer and thus saving paper. Use remanufactured ink and toner cartridges from INK SOLUTIONS to save the office 30-60% off printing costs and it reduces the companies carbon footprint tremendously. Using remanufactured reduces waste and natural resources needed to be extracted from the Earth.

Wear a sweater-and turn the heat down. For every degree in reduced building temperature , cost is reduced and less carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.

officespace2.jpg

Turning off the computer at night saves energy. Some argue that turning it off and on wears out the components, but many companies buy new technology every few years in any case-before the computers can ever wear out.
Urge your company to buy recycled paper. The typical office worker goes through 10,000 sheets a year-that’s an eighth of a tree.

Check and see if your office uses fair trade coffees and teas.

Conference calls save time and fuel and energy, when appropriate.

See if your company has social responsibility as part of its corporate policy and in its annual report. Does it include measurable targets for improving green business practices.

Bring in some green to the office, really I mean it. Bring in some plants and place them around the office. It will improve everyones mood and gives the office a green more natural feel.

Find out if any printers in your office support duplexing (printing on both the front and back of the paper). It uses, as you would expect, 50% less paper than printing on one side of the paper!

Happy green printing everyone!

Buy Dell Ink & Toner for less

For all of you out there that are using Dell printers, you do have a better option when it comes to printing supplies. The majority of people that own Dell machines do not know they have other alternative when it comes to replacing that ink or toner cartridge. Dell does a nice job cornering the consumer into re-ordering their products by sending annoying messages telling them to order through Dell.com. If you have ever experienced this from Dell, simply ignore the messages and do not fall into their trap. You can save anywhere from 30-60% on your Dell cartridges for just about every printer model out on the market. It is more beneficial for you to save a munch of money and to do something eco-friendly for your home or office printer without sacrificing quality. It’s also a great way to feel liberated when you do something other than following Dells sales pressure. If you have any questions about supplies for your Dell laser or ink jet printer, just send an e-mail to karl@inksolutionsma.com and we will be glad to give you your best options. You can also send your Dell cartridge order to the same e-mail to start saving cash.

So from today on, print happy, for much less!

Voided Warranty? I think not.

Let it be known

“The act of using a compatible replacement ink jet cartridge, ink tank, or laser toner cartridge does not void your warranty.” Using replacement cartridges that in turn save you lots of money and are a better environmental alternative to buying new; will not damage your printer and yes you are allowed to use supplies of your choosing. Now doesn’t it makes sense that as a consumer in the United States of America, a democratic free nation, you can do whatever you want with a piece of machinery that is yours? Yes it is that simple so please do not be misled by your printer manufacturer when they lie to you. You probably have heard before “use only genuine ink in your printer or the world will end” or something along those lines. Now listen to your legal rights as a consumer and why its not lawful and ethical for the big corporate printer manufacturers to make such statements.

Know Your Rights!
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 and according to Federal Law 93-637, January 4, 1975, Section 102, Part C (Sherman & Clayton Antitrust Acts), and Title 15 US Chapter 50, Section 2302, it is ILLEGAL for an equipment manufacturer to void a warranty due to the usage of a remanufactured or compatible imaging supply. A manufacturer may not require the use of any brand of ink (or any other article) unless the manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty. Essentially the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) would need to supply you with ink or toner for free! We know there is a slim chance of that happening. Therefore the use of third party inks will not void your printers warranty. Consumers are often erroneously told by printer manufacturers, dealers, sales or service personnel that use of competitive brands of ink during the warranty period will void the warranty of the printer. This claim which is always verbal and never in writing from the dealer, sales or service personnel is strictly for the benefit of the company to whom they are working for. And of course the equipment manufacturers such as Hp, Lexmark, Dell etc. make the majority of their profits off of supply sales. Selling printers is important to HP for example because sales of the ink used in them bring in double the income that computer sales do. Now you can see the clear motivation they have to mislead the public in order to control the market.

New Printer Review

\

From time to time I will post some info on new printers that come out. This will hopefully help some of you decide on the next printer you are looking to purchase. And so you know, I try to recommend printers that are the most ink/toner efficient. This will in the end save you money compared to being stuck with a big supply hog. Here is a Canon budget ink jet printer.

Reviewers all say that printers made to sell for less than $100 are generally a poor value since replacement ink cartridges cost nearly as much as the printer itself. The best bargain is the no-frills Canon Pixma iP1800. This one you can pick up just about anywhere for around $40 or $50 dollars. Reviewers say text quality is merely average, but photos are surprisingly good (though color is sometimes off). Graphics quality is also good, and speed is more than satisfactory. Reviewers also like the bundled software. The Pixma iP1800 comes with starter cartridges — which means you’ll need to buy replacement cartridges right away. The meager 90-day limited warranty is commensurate with the price as well. The full capacity cartridges for this printer is black (PG-40) & color (CL-41). Replacement cost with Ink Solutions is $12.49 and $14.49 respectively. This is a total savings of $18 just on this small purchase!

The Ink Solutions Economic Stimulus Package

Feeling the pinch? We can help you.

So we are now all aware of the sliding economic times now felt all over the country. The mortgage crisis continues and the unemployment rate across the nation is slowly climbing. Gas prices are reaching unseen highs and food prices are also on the rise. It may be hitting some of us already and others not; but most of us are aware of what is going on. Everyone also knows that the government has and is continuing to cut most working citizens a check in the amount of $300-$700, depending on taxable income. Now that’s not a bad way to infuse some money back into our nations economy.

We at Ink Solutions have another creative way to save YOU money and to make up for the rising cost of living. If you need to purchase ink or toner cartridges, do it locally here at our Northampton or Amherst location or by e-mail/phone.  If you are not local, call us (413.517.0099) and we can still help you! Over the course of one year; a small office can save over $1,000 based on average supply purchasing patterns. Now that’s $1,000 of your own money that can be better spent to run your business or for a nice vacation. If you don’t have a small office, thats okay. An average ink purchase for a small printer, lets say of a Hp #56 Black and #57 color, will cost you $56.00 retail at an office store. Through Ink Solutions the cost would be $29.00. A savings of $27.00!! This is just on one small purchase on an item that you always need in order to print. Its all possible here locally and its eco-friendly. Now that’s what I call a stimulus package!
